Marsten Parker

Marsten Parker is a systematic trader, programmer and founder of RealTest, a powerful and highly cusomisable back-testing application. Self taught as a trader, he has been trading full time for more than 20 years and is celebrated for his appearance in Jack Schwager’s Unknown Market Wizards. Parker initially trained as a concert violinist and later switched to computer programming, founding and selling a software company before turning to trading. He began trading around 1998, and achieved compound returns of around 27 % annually from 1998 to 2012, which was sufficient to secure his spot as the only algorithmic trader in Schwager’s book. To overcome limitations of existing tools, he built RealTest, a C based backtesting engine that has evolved as his primary research tool.

His unusual path from concert halls to algorithmic trading, combined with sustained performance and technical expertise, underscores his credentials as a mentor. His infamous support and contributions inside the RealTest forum testify to his genuine desire to help others. A true officer and a gentleman.
